The Ayatul Kursi, Throne Verse, is a verse of great importance in the Islamic world. Many Muslims throughout the world learn and memorize this verse and recite it as a means of protection and in some scenarios also for purification. Before delving deeper into the verses virtues let us understand the translation of the verse.

"Allah! There is no god except He, The Living, The Self-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who could possibly intercede with Him without His permission? He knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them, but no one can grasp any of His knowledge—except what He wills. His Seat encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of both does not tire Him. For He is The Most High, The Exalted." -Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 255

This verse encompasses the oneness, tawheed, of Allah and explains it to humanity in the simplest of terms. It is also one of the four parts of the Quran that are attached to Allah's Throne. The sheer magnitude of the verse's greatness and glory caused thousands of angels to accompany the verse.

 Allah knows best to the true benefits and virtues associated with reciting this verse, but I will list here the benefits of reciting this verse that are mentioned by the various hadith/rumors:

1.  Someone who recites Ayatul Kursi every morning will be in the protection and safety of Allah until the night.

2.  If someone recites it Ayatul Kursi once when going out of the home Allah will have a group of Angels come and protect him/her. If recited twice, then two groups of Angels will be assigned. If recited thrice, Allah tells the Angels not to worry as the Almighty himself takes care of the person.

3.  Allah Almighty told Hazrat Musa (A.S), “If one recites it after every prayer, Allah will make his heart a thankful one, will give him a reward of the Prophet's and his deeds will be like those of the truthful and nothing except death will stop will stop him from going into heaven.”

4.  The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “These things increase ones memory: sweets, the meat of an animal which is slaughtered in Islamic manner near the neck, lentils, cold bread and recitation of Ayatul Kursi.”

5.  Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “If one recites Ayatul Kursi before going to sleep, Allah will send an Angel to come and look after you and protect.”

6.  If someone recites Ayatul Kursi after every prayer, their prayer will be accepted, and they will remain in the safety of Allah Almighty and He will protect them.

7.  Frequent recitation of Ayatul Kursi makes one’s own death easy.

8.  When someone is alone at home, recitation of Ayatul Kursi will make him/her remain calm and will not fear.
